What do I put in my urn pendant?

These are some ideas of what you can put in your urn pendant.

Urn pendants are a beautiful and loving reminder of a loved one that has passed away and is no longer with you in body but their spirit remains with you always.  Each pendant contains a hollow inner compartment that will hold a small remembrance of your beloved or treasured pet.  The remembrance that you insert inside the hollow inner cavity of your keepsake varies from person to person and there are many intimate and personal expressions of your loved one that can be utilized.  Jewelry Keepsakes has been a leader in cremation jewelry sales and their customer service department can assist you with your selection of precious remembrances.

When you receive your urn pendant the first thing you should do is find the threaded stopper.  Typically located under the bail but other times on the bottom or back of the keepsake, you gently unscrew the threaded stopper from the opening.  After opening and revealing the hollow cavity, insert the enclosed small funnel into the opening.  Now is when you need to make the decision as to what goes inside your urn pendant.

Cremated ashes are one of the most utilized and personal expressions of devotion to your beloved that can be placed inside your funeral jewelry.  Most pendants will hold approximately a pinch of cremated ashes or cremains and can be inserted using a small funnel.  Cremated ashes are obtained from the urn or container where your loved ones ashes have been laid to rest.

Another wonderful expression of your love and devotion to someone that you have lost for your funeral jewelry is a small bit of sacred ground from where they were laid to rest or buried.  Your urn pendant will hold a very small amount of the ground and can be sealed forever inside your remembrance jewelry.  Adding some engraving to the back of your pendant is an excellent way to further customize and personalize your keepsake and Jewelry Keepsakes offers a wide degree of engraving depending on the chosen jewelry urn.

For those that prefer not to use cremated ashes or sacred ground, there are other personal options that can be exercised when choosing your precious remembrance for your keepsake pendant.  Many families that have lost a loved one choose to have a lock of their hair for personal reasons.  Multiple strands from the lock of hair will fit securely inside your funeral jewelry and make a wonderful and honorable tribute to your loved one.

When a couple gets married often times the bouquet from the ceremony is dried and saved as a reminder of their special day.  Likewise when an individual passes away and the family or a loved one has sent a special arrangement, the arrangement is dried and preserved.  Dried and crushed flowers from either of these arrangements would be terrific reminders of the impact your loved one had on your life.  You would insert the dried flowers in the same manner that you would the ashes or the sacred ground.  Jewelry Keepsakes strongly suggests applying a small drop of adhesive to the threads of the stopper to keep your sacred reminder secure inside the keepsake.

If you have a favorite photo of your loved one or a favorite t-shirt or other piece of clothing that was worn all the time, pieces of these would make heartfelt and caring insertions for your cremation jewelry.  The photo can actually be burned down to ashes much like cremated ashes or cremains and then gently placed inside your funeral jewelry.  After applying the epoxy to the threaded stopper, slide the enclosed free matching chain or cording through the bail and you can now proudly display your treasured keepsake pendant.  Should you choose to insert a small piece of a favorite shirt or other clothing, snip off a tiny piece, insert through the funnel and secure tightly with epoxy and twisting the stopper.  You can also select a small amount of engraving for the back of your keepsake with most of the pendants at Jewelry Keepsakes and this further enhances and personalizes your remembrance jewelry.

There really is no right or wrong answer for what to place inside your jewelry urn.  Cremated ashes are typically the most popular as they are a sentimental and intimate part of your loved one that cannot be replicated in any other way.  Some sacred ground from where your loved one or treasured pet was buried is another simple yet personal expression of your devotion to their livelihood and your love for them.  Dried and crushed flower petals, a burned photo or a piece of a favorite t-shirt or other clothing are additional remembrances that would make heartfelt and beautiful honors to those no longer with you.  Many of the keepsake pendants at Jewelry Keepsakes can be further personalized with a name, date or other anniversary added as engraving to the back, front or both sides of the engraving.  Jewelry Keepsakes makes it easy to fill your urn pendant by including a small funnel and a set of instructions with every keepsake purchase.
